Kiosque de l'In-visible

Captive Portal presents Kiosque de l'In-visible, a 24/7 accessible exhibition of contemporary and alternative video art in the form of an interactive street-level video kiosk. Available May through September 2025.

The Concept

This exhibition explores the concept of the "in-visible" through works that challenge hegemonic ideals of sight and viewing. Not simply "not appearing," but that which cannot be "read" and thus controlled by and through the eye. In an age where our eyes are bombarded by screens and misinformation, we propose alternatives to mainstream visual culture.

The format plays with the etymology of "kiosk" itself: from the Turkish "köşk"—an open-air garden pavilion for Ottoman elites—to modern urban kiosks selling cigarettes and snacks, to today's interactive information screens. Our kiosk straddles open-air leisure, contemporary consumption, and interactive digital media display.

The Kiosk Experience

Located at Fredericiagade 12B in Copenhagen, the kiosk is mounted directly on Captive Portal's door. It features:

The total runtime of all works is approximately 65 minutes, looping continuously. Viewing experience may vary with weather and lighting conditions—direct sunlight can cause reflections, making viewing optimal during darker hours.
